As you decide what you would like to do the rest of your life, the following information can be helpful.  Remember that although you have your high school diploma, you are always welcome to come by, call, or e-mail (ccortes@egusd.net) Ms. Cynthia Cortes if you have any questions about continuing your education.

 

For admission, go on-line to www.losrios.edu and get a username & password, fill out an application, get a Student ID (e-mailed to you), and take the on-line orientation for that college.  Next, go back to the website for the assessment test schedule and take the English and math test at the college.  After your tests, go see a college counselor & see the financial aid office to fill out any additional information.  Lastly, go back to the website (e-services) to find out when you can register for your classes.  

 

Applications for student federal/state grant money are found online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

 

For colleges outside California, you need to call the college to find out when their financial aid forms are due and fill out only the federal grant application (FAFSA) and the financial aid application for that particular college.

 

New scholarship applications and information are received every month and posted outside the counselor's door.  Their qualifications and deadlines vary. To get a current list, come by the office or e-mail Ms. Cortes at ccortes@egusd.net. or sign up at these two websites: www.fastweb.com or www.scholarships.com.

 

The ASVAB exam is usually offered at Rio Cazadero in January.  It is free, but you’ll need to call to reserve a seat. Call us after winter break for registration.
